The latest Japanese sales charts revealed that The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III‘s physical sales* went well in the game’s opening week, beating the likes of FIFA 18 and Fire Emblem Warriors. Although the number of units sold didn’t match that of its predecessor (which sold 169,000 units across PlayStation 3 and PS Vita upon launch) Trails of Cold Steel III‘s rate of digital sales is the highest in the series, according to a tweet by Falcom.
“The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III has achieved first place in the weekly sales ranking!” said the developer (as translated by Gematsu). “This time, the rate of digital version sales was by far higher than previous entries in the series, but we were able to achieve over 100,000 units in the first week with physical version sales alone.”
Earlier in September, Falcom announced that The Trails of Cold Steel series has sold over one million copies worldwide. The latest entry released in Japan on September 28.
*According to Media Create’s numbers, Trails of Cold Steel III’s first week sales stood at 87,261 units, as we reported earlier this week. However, Famitsu puts this number at 104,401 units, which has been echoed by Falcom’s tweet above.
