Shenmue III developer Ys Net just released a new video showing off the action-adventure game’s development. The short, one minute video focuses on facial animation, an object of some criticism in the past. To see characters’ faces moving around, you’ll want to watch the video they posted.
Check out the latest Shenmue III update on development below:
Back in August, Shenmue III director Yu Suzuki commented on facial animations, and said the development team were currently working on them:
Suzuki also told Game Watch that facial animations weren’t implemented in the trailer. He says that they had the facial animations working a month ago, but that they were temporarily removed before they put together the teaser trailer. That should explain some of the stiffness that players noticed, and once again it’s best to treat a teaser trailer as what it is: a teaser.
Ys Net also gave an update on backer surveys, and apologized for the delay in sending them out:
Concerning the Backer Surveys
We apologize for the wait in sending out the backer surveys. The survey preparation is moving ahead, however it will take some time yet before they go out. We will have a full rundown of the surveys coming soon. Until then, we ask for your patience.
Shenmue III will release in 2018 for PlayStation 4 and PC.
