NISA Updates Danganronpa V3 Streaming, Capture, and Video Restrictions

As a very narrative heavy game full of mystery and major revelations that can be easily spoiled, it’s understandable why NISA’s original stance on Danganronpa V3 streaming and video capture was to simply restrict capture of everything past the first chapter of the game. Much like the push back that Atlus experienced when restricting Persona 5 earlier this year, NISA felt compelled to update these restrictions to more of a suggestion. The Danganronpa V3 update was tweeted out earlier today, ahead of tomorrow’s launch.

The PS4 will still block any capture of the trials beyond chapter one, but NISA will not be issuing takedowns or taking any kind of action against streamers that want to stream beyond that point with a capture card or other device. They are simply recommending that streamers warn their viewers about spoilers.

If you want to read our spoiler free review, we talk about how Danganronpa V3 continues the series’ tradition of leaving us speechless with our jaws on the floor.

If you delight in the sense of drama and anticipation that arises from impossible situations, if you are engaged by a twisting mystery that is never quite what you expect, then the Danganronpa series is for you. I can’t in good faith recommend that you play Danganronpa V3 before the other two, just like I would never tell you to enjoy Return of the King before partaking of Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers. As the third part of an incredible trilogy of games, Danganronpa V3 deserves your attention in its rightful place after the other two. Make no mistake though, it’s a title that’s well worth arriving at when you get there, a vibrantly dark mystery that sinks its teddy bear claws in and won’t let go.

It’s an interesting time for developers as video and streaming becomes an increasingly popular way for people to consume games media. In a story heavy game like this, it makes sense that they would default to restrictions on story, but I think trusting their fans and players to properly communicate to their viewers is the right way to go, instead of outright restricting and banning those that are helping to show off their game in some respect.

If you don’t mind spoilers and need a walkthrough of the game, we’ve got our full Danganronpa V3 guide and walkthrough that shows you where to use the mysterious items obtained after each trial, and the right answers to every trial minigame. Be warned that these guides will end up spoiling each case though, so don’t look at them unless you really need the help getting through the game.

What do you think of NISA easing up on the Danganronpa V3 streaming restrictions?
