Spoiler Alert: Knack 2 Ending – Final Boss and Cinematic

Hello everyone, and welcome to “Spoiler Alert,” a PlayStation LifeStyle original feature that gives the PSLS community a safe place to come and discuss spoilers about various games, while providing spoiler-filled videos of the endings and other major plot points. If you want to see the latest games’ endings and talk about it, you’ve come to the right place! This time, we’re looking at the Knack 2 ending.

Knack 2 is an amazing sequel, improving on the first game in every way possible. Knack has a whole library of new moves and varied platforming sections to take on. In my review, I talked about the story being a little more straightforward than the first, but having some fun twists and turns before the end.

The first Knack’s story hinted at too many threads that it never fully picked up, leaving the whole thing to feel frayed. Knack 2 takes a far more straightforward approach with its narrative. It’s fairly simple with a couple of fun and unexpected twists and turns, and the execution leaves the story feeling complete by the end. If Dreamworks Animation made a globetrotting Uncharted-esque adventure, I can see the resulting film being Knack 2. It’s nice that they opted for a complete story, rather than trying to seed ideas that don’t end up coming to fruition.

Be warned, from here forward there are major spoilers for Knack 2. If you don’t want to be spoiled, turn away now. If you haven’t read our SPOILER FREE review, you should go check it out.

Here’s a picture of Knack narrowly avoiding a blow from an enemy to separate you from the spoilers that lie in wait below.

Knack 2 ending (2)

Knack 2 seems to begin with a resurgence of the Goblin threat, hinting at a return of the ancient High Goblins and their powerful robot army. About halfway through the game, that story changes. Defeating the High Goblin commander, and ending the return of Gundahar from the first game is just the beginning. It’s revealed that the leader of the monks, Xander, desires the power of the robot army for himself. Knack and Lucas are abandoned on an island and left for dead for four months.

At this point, the goblins are all but gone from the story. Once they get back to the mainland, it’s time to take on Xander and his massive robots, but just when you think they’ve taken out the final boss, Xander blasts Knack with a powerful relic, rendering him inert and capturing him. Three months later, Lucas tracks down Knack and the hunt for Xander is on again. Discovering that he’s made an enormous city-sized death robot, Knack and Lucas need to stop Xander before he destroys the city.

Lucas makes deadly gamble and comes out alive, managing to defeat the giant spider-like machine with a plane he built out of recycled robot parts that power up when hit by energy from the relic. With Xander defeated, the relic has one final plan that Knack must break through: an evil Knack type creature made up of dark relics. Take a look at the final fight and ending cinematic of the game below.

The entirety of Knack 2’s story feels like an epic trilogy. There are three distinct parts, in many ways feeling like The Lord of the Rings or the original Star Wars trilogy. I know the two major twists really surprised me. I didn’t expect the game to keep going as long as it did, but the path it took kept me constantly intrigued. Feel free to discuss Knack 2’s ending and story in the comments below. Stay tuned for PlayStation LifeStyle’s next Spoiler Alert feature to discuss spoilers on the biggest games.
