Sony has announced that, beginning on September 1 in North America, there will be a new PlayStation VR core bundle for $399.99 USD/$499.99 CAD and the existing PlayStation VR Worlds bundle will drop down to $449.99 USD/$579.99 CAD.
With the new core bundle, you’ll receive the PlayStation VR headset and PlayStation Camera for the current $399 price tag. As Sony explains, “this essentially gives you the PlayStation Camera at no extra charge, and will be the core PS VR bundle moving forward.”
As for the PlayStation VR Worlds bundle, it includes the PSVR headset, PS Camera, two PlayStation Move motion controllers, and a copy of PlayStation VR Worlds. It’s currently priced at $499 USD, so the upcoming PSVR price drop will end up saving you $50 USD.
If you’re interested in the Farpoint PlayStation VR Aim Controller Bundle, Sony says it’s now back in stock.
Mary Yee, Sony Interactive Entertainment America’s VP of PlayStation Marketing, added:
On the horizon, we’ve got a great lineup of games, including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, Doom VFR, Sparc, Bravo Team, and The Inpatient. The system itself also continues to evolve, as we just announced that the latest PS4 system software update 5.00 will include some enhancements for PS VR like 5.1ch and 7.1ch virtual surround sound in Cinematic Mode.
Sony revealed in June that PSVR sales had crossed one million lifetime.
