Spanish developer MercurySteam has announced that their upcoming four-versus-one multiplayer shooter Raiders of the Broken Planet will launch next month. Starting on September 22, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC owners will be able to check out the game’s free Prologue, and its first campaign. Called Alien Myths, the first campaign will cost $9.99, and three more are set to arrive at “regular intervals.”
Here’s how MercurySteam describes the two offerings:
Launching on September 22nd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Raiders of the Broken Planet – Prologue will set the scene for the adventures to come. This Prologue is a completely free download, containing a wealth of content including two lengthy missions across four stages, multiple characters to play with and full “no holds” barred access to both the single player and online multiplayer game modes.
On the same day, the first Raiders of the Broken Planet campaign – Alien Myths – will launch priced at a staggeringly low €9.99/$9.99/£9.99. Alien Myths contains hours of incredible additional content including new characters, new missions and an awesome stand-alone story that builds the world of Raiders of the Broken Planet even further.
The studio also released a new gamescom 2017 trailer. Check it out below:

While there are clearly areas that need to be tweaked, Raiders of the Broken Planet‘s beta showed that MercurySteam has a potential hit on their hands. The four-player cooperative action game has tight gameplay, and an interesting premise that could lead to dozens of campaigns down the line (so far four are planned for release). I’m still not sure if the game will be able to get its hooks into players enough to have them replay stages repeatedly, but at the very least it’ll end up entertaining a group of friends for as long as the campaign lasts.
