Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age – Everything You Need to Know

Though it tends to steal all the headlines, Final Fantasy VII isn’t the only Square RPG from yesteryear headed to PlayStation 4. Also on the way to Sony’s current-gen system is Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, a HD re-release of the 2006 classic that proved to be the franchise’s last hurrah on PS2.

Now, more than a decade later, Vaan and the gang are bound for PlayStation 4, and not unlike Square’s handling of the FFX and FFX-2 HD remasters, The Zodiac Age comes packing a raft of new features. It’ll be priced at $49.99, too, while there’s also mention of 7.1 surround sound,  auto-save and shortened loading times, along with the 12-job character progression system that ought to be familiar to those who played the international version of the 2006 original. All in all, it makes for an exciting proposition for those who perhaps missed out on the chance to experience Ivalice the first time round, while the runaway success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is further proof that the nostalgia factor continues to be a big draw for old-school players itching to take a wander down memory lane.

So, you’re ready to indulge in a little Final Fantasy-related nostalgia? Not so fast! In anticipation of its launch on July 11, we’ve scoured the four corners of the internet — and the PSLS archives — to compile all the necessary information you could ever need pertaining to Square’s remaster.

Stay tuned to our Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age review hitting the site early next week.
