You Won’t Be Able to Retry Missions in Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Monolith Productions showed off quite a bit of gameplay footage of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War at E3 this past week and during their panel at YouTube’s E3 Coliseum, Creative Director Michael de Plater revealed that missions in Shadow of War cannot be replayed regardless if the player succeeds or fails in them.

Speaking to Talion Voice Actor Troy Baker, de Plater said about replaying missions:

We can’t. We can never replay that mission. Time is going to move forward. The world is going to evolve. The guys that are dead are going to stay dead.

The world constantly moves forward and evolves. You never have to replay the same mission twice.

So it looks like players are going to need to think twice about blindly jumping into missions unprepared as succeeding or failing missions will have permanent repercussions throughout the rest of the game.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is scheduled for release on October 10, 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and other platforms.
