The Mummy reboot movie is coming out tomorrow and it’s not surprising that Universal Pictures, or more specifically Universal Brand Development, has announced that a tie-in video game for the movie is in development and scheduled for release in August.
Entitled The Mummy Demastered, the game is a 16-bit 2D platforming adventure game for the PlayStation 4 and other platforms. It is being developed by WayForward, the studio responsible for the Shantae series of games, among others.
Here’s an overview of the game, via Universal Brand Development:
Players will enter a world of evil as an elite Prodigium agent who is tasked to take down Princess Ahmanet’s army of the undead and save the world at any cost. Players will explore dark forests, maze-like military compounds and the sandstorm-filled streets of London in this retro-inspired adventure.
As previously mentioned, The Mummy Demastered is scheduled for release sometime in late August for the PlayStation 4 and other platforms.
