Epic Games has announced that Fortnite will begin its paid Early Access Season on July 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Founder’s Packs are up for pre-order on the PlayStation Store for $39.99 USD to $149.99 USD, and they also grant early Early Access on July 21 and exclusive items.
A retail version of Fortnite on PS4 and Xbox One will also be available, published by Gearbox.
Asked on Twitter if Fortnite is a free-to-play game, Epic Games replied, “In order to participate in Early Access (Starts July 25) you will need a Founder’s pack. Open free access starts in 2018.”
Here’s the description for Fortnite, an action building online game:
The Storm came without warning. 98% of the world’s population vanished … then came the monsters. Lead the world’s remaining Heroes in the fight to hold back the Storm. Explore the large, destructible world where no two games are ever the same. Build huge forts, craft exotic weapons, find loot and level up your Heroes. Take on the Storm with four player online co-op. Welcome to Epic Games’ new Action Building game, Fortnite.
“No co-op/split screen, but you and up to 3 of your friends can play together online!” Epic Games added on Twitter.
