PlatinumGames Is Still Discussing Bayonetta 3

A year ago, Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya said that after work on the now-cancelled Scalebound was complete, he would look into making Bayonetta 3. In fact, he had already written some outlines and was looking for the right opportunity to return to the series.

Recently at BitSummit 2017, PlatinumGames’ Atsushi Inaba said that the studio is still discussing the game and is “constantly talking about it.” During an interview with Source Gaming at the event, Inaba was asked if a third installment would retain the same protagonist, to which he said:

Maybe there would be a male Bayonetta! I would like to make Bayonetta 3. We’re talking within the company even now about what to do. But because we’re constantly talking about it, that actually makes it really hard to say. If we weren’t talking about it, we could just say something random or offhand.

The first Bayonetta released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. Its sequel was a Nintendo-exclusive. It remains to be seen if we’ll see a Bayonetta 3 and whether it’ll be a multi-platform release or not.
