Developer Boss Key Productions announced today that LawBreakers, their multiplayer first-person shooter, is coming to PlayStation 4 later this year. It will launch simultaneously on PS4 and PC, but a release date is TBA.
As Boss Key CEO Cliff Bleszinski explained on the PlayStation Blog, LawBreakers will be a digital-only title, it will cost $29.99 USD, and there won’t be a Season Pass or pay-to-win mechanics:
LawBreakers is coming out this year on PS4 as a digital-only title. Discs are like voicemail, so ten years ago. It’s important to know that something that’s important for the studio and me is to create a game with no season passes and no “pay-to-win” mechanics at a price that is what we feel is fair to players. It will be $29.99. We don’t want to fragment our playbase with silo’d season pass BS, nor do we want to pollute matchmaking with “pay-to-win” incentives. We want to create a game ecosystem that’s all about highly skilled players competing on even playing fields, and a landscape for average players to aspire to become better. More details on launch date soon.
The press release adds that all future content updates will be free, and you can earn cosmetics via the game’s Stash-Box system.
Here’s the overview of LawBreakers:
From the mind of Bleszinski, LawBreakers is set in a brand new futuristic world where the laws of gravity have been turned upside down. A war between the Law and the Breakers rages across a variety of iconic locations such as the boiling oceans of the Santa Monica coastline to the gravity-ravaged Grand Canyon and beyond.
LawBreakers will run at 60 frames-per-second on PS4, and there will be PS4 Pro enhancements. Bleszinski ruled out PS4 and PC cross-platform play.
LawBreakers for PS4, which is Nexon’s first console release, will be at E3 2017 next month.
You can grab a free LawBreakers PS4 theme from the PlayStation Store.
