In development at Ubisoft Massive for consoles and PC, Ubisoft’s AAA Avatar game won’t be released before Fiscal Year 2021, which begins on April 1, 2020.
When the upcoming Avatar game wasn’t mentioned in Ubisoft’s plans for this fiscal year and the next fiscal year, IGN reached out to the company. A representative sent them this statement:
Avatar is one of the biggest and most powerful entertainment brands. Our first game was profitable and we have great plans for the new one, with a very strong studio and engine. The movie will be released end of 2020, so our game won’t be released before FY21.
Ubisoft has four AAA games coming out this fiscal year (a new Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 5, The Crew 2, and South Park: The Fractured But Whole), and four AAA games coming out next fiscal year (three from established franchises, one from a new IP).
Ubisoft’s previous Avatar game released in 2009.
