In their first DevBlog, Risk of Rain developer Hopoo Games announced that Risk of Rain 2 has been in development for about six months, but stressed that “the game is still very VERY early in development.”
After noting that the systems, artstyles, assets, and game design choices are all subject to change, Hopoo Games said Risk of Rain 2 will be their first fully 3D project:
We think that 3D allows for much deeper design spaces and more possibilities for cool gameplay. Feelings of scale and atmosphere are also much stronger. We are really happy with the core of Risk of Rain – and we’re finding it plays even better in 3D. It just won’t crash anymore.
Future blog posts from Hopoo will focus on the unified character system, item proc chains, and development progress.

Platforms for Risk of Rain 2 weren’t given.
The first Risk of Rain released in 2013 for PC, then in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. A limited physical version of Risk of Rain on PlayStation platforms will be available through Limited Run Games on May 26.
