Less than three months after Erik Wolpaw announced his resignation from Valve, another Portal and Half-Life writer has left the studio. Chet Faliszek, who has been with Valve for 12 years and was also its VR ambassador, confirmed the news of his departure to Games Industry today with the following message:
Nothing exciting or drama filled. I worked there 12 years, shipped a bunch of great games and some amazing hardware and wanted to change things up. There’s no news on what’s next etc, I will let you know when that happens.
Alongside two Half-Life episodes and two Portal games, Faliszek worked on both Left 4 Dead titles. His resignation also precedes that of Marc Laidlaw, who left in January 2016 after 18 years, making this the third resignation from the Portal and Half-Life development teams in a span of 1.5 years.
Faliszek also ran the now-defunct gaming site Old Man Murray with Wolpaw.
We wish him the best of luck!
