ESA Claims 65 Percent of American Households Play Video Games

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has announced that it has found, in its latest report, that two-thirds of American households regularly play video games.

More specifically, according to ESA’s report entitled 2017 Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Game Industry, sixty-five percent of American households are home to at least one individual that plays video games for at least three hours per day. Additionally, sixty-seven percent of American households own at least one device used to play video games.

Michael D. Gallagher, president and CEO of ESA, said in a statement:

“America is a nation of gamers. Families across the nation enjoy video game experiences that deliver sensational and immersive fun. The industry’s high-tech developers, designers, and creators use cutting edge innovations on every device – from the smartphone to virtual reality – to capture the imagination of gamers across the US and around the globe.”

The report also states that people aged 18 or older represent the majority of the gaming population and that the average age of gamers is 35 years old.
