Previously scheduled for late April/early May, 3D sandbox RPG Portal Knights is now releasing on May 19 in Europe and May 23 in North America for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, 505 Games has announced. Additionally, it was revealed that the Steam version won’t leave Early Access until May 19.
505 Games explained why Portal Knights was delayed:
The teams at 505 Games and Keen Games have been pushing incredibly hard to make this happen, but unfortunately, we need some extra time… The game is looking beautiful, but there’s still some polishing to do and we don’t want to give it to you until it’s ready.
Of course, we’re disappointed and we know many of you guys will be too. However, we hope you understand, can respect our decision and we hope you’ll continue to support us in the run up to launch. While it’s hard to break news like this at any time, it does feel a little easier in this case, as we know we have an incredibly loyal, passionate and supportive community on board.
To help make the wait a little easier, a free trial version of Portal Knights will launch on April 20 for PS4 and Xbox One. With the trial, you’ll be able to create your hero, explore the first island, learn the basics, play with a friend in two-player local split-screen multiplayer, and more. If you decide to buy Portal Knights, your trial save data will transfer to the full game.
