Playtonic Releases the Yooka-Laylee Rap, Pays Homage to DK Rap from Donkey Kong 64

With Yooka-Laylee‘s release around the corner, Playtonic Games released its own take on the infamous DK Rap, which many will remember from the Rare-developed Donkey Kong 64.

“Well here it is, the Yooka-Laylee Rap,” tweeted the original DK Rap composer Grant Kirkhope. ” I think we can safely say this will be my last one I promise! It’s not often I admit defeat, but I am totally clueless when it comes to that style of music!”

A spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee will be out worldwide on Tuesday, April 11 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A Nintendo Switch version will follow later in the year. Playtonic has said that it hopes to capture a large audience with the platformer including young players and adults who don’t have a lot of time to play games.

Stay tuned for our review, which we’ll publish in the coming days. For more on the game, check out our previous coverage.
