CD Projekt Red: We’ll Think About Making a New The Witcher Game

In their earnings report yesterday, CD Projekt Red announced that the combined sales total of all three titles in The Witcher series has crossed 25 million. During the Q&A section of the CD Projekt Red earnings conference (42:00), an executive said through a translator that a new The Witcher game is something they’ll think about:

The Witcher was designed as a trilogy and a trilogy cannot have a fourth part, can it? We like this world a lot. We invested 15 years of our lives in it and a lot of money. So, we’ll think about [making another The Witcher game].

At the moment, CD Projekt Red is working on an unannounced AAA RPG and Cyberpunk 2077, both of which are expected by 2021. Asked about Cyberpunk 2077 during the Q&A (28:50), they said development is “quite advanced” right now, several hundred people are working on it, and it’s very ambitious. Don’t expect to hear more about Cyberpunk 2077 this year though, as 2017 belongs to Gwent: The Witcher Card Game.

Gwent is holding a Technical Beta on PS4 this weekend, ahead of further betas this spring and the full launch in the second half of this year.
