Dark Souls 3 PS4 Pro Patch Is Pretty Minor

From Software recent patch for Dark Souls 3, Patch 1.11, brought with it the promised support and performance upgrades for the game on the PS4 Pro. But surprisingly, it looks like the upgrades turn out to be quite minor or basic.

According to Eurogamer, the update only unlocks the framerate of the game from its previously locked framerate of 30fps. While that means the framerate can go beyond 30fps, it doesn’t mean that it’ll reach all the way up to 60fps.

On the contrary, the update only brings the game’s framerate somewhere in the mid-40s with only a few instances of it reaching 60fps, such as “highly constrained areas, or looking at the sky.” But in actual gameplay, the mid-40s framerate is what’s standard.

It’s a bit disappointing that From Software didn’t do more with the update to bring the game to run at a consistent 60fps framerate to really bring out the power of the PS4 Pro. With the way it is now, it seems like they barely made an effort to support the PS4 Pro.

Hopefully, this isn’t the last patch the company will release to improve the performance of Dark Souls 3 on the PS4 Pro. But with the game’s final DLC The Ringed City already released, the likelihood of further updates is low.
