Update (April 28): Publisher Crunching Koalas has announced that Butcher is releasing on May 9 for PlayStation 4 and May 10 for Xbox One. It will cost $9.99 USD/€9.99/£7.99.
Original Story: The PlayStation Store has revealed that Butcher, a fast-paced 2D shooter from Transhuman Design, is releasing on April 25 in Europe for PlayStation 4, priced at £7.99. PlayStation Plus members can save 20% by pre-ordering, and the bundle includes the game and official soundtrack.
The description for the above trailer adds that Butcher’s North American release is happening in Q2 2017. It will likely be priced at $9.99 USD.
A “blood-soaked love letter to the cult classics of the genre” where the easiest mode is Hard, Butcher sees you playing as a cyborg programmed to destroy the last of humanity. The description adds:
So grab your weapon of choice (from chainsaws, to shotguns, to grenade launchers) and kill your way through underground hideouts, post-apocalyptic cities, jungles, and more. And if you’re feeling creative, there are plenty of other ways to end your enemies’ misery – hooks, lava pits, saws… no death will ever be the same again.
If kicking corpses into a lava pit and adorning walls with blood is your idea of a good time, Butcher is THE game for you.
Butcher was released last year for PC.
