Total industry sales last month in the United States were down 21% year-over-year to $724 million, the NPD has revealed. This includes a 30% drop to $204 million for hardware, a 14% drop to $344.2 million for console and portable software, and a 21% drop to $150.8 million for accessories.
Discussing hardware, NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said the Uncharted 4 PlayStation 4 bundle was once again the #1 SKU:
The PlayStation 4 was the top-selling hardware system in the month. And for the fifth month running, the PlayStation 4 Slim System 500GB Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Bundle was the month’s top selling console.
Looking at software, For Honor was the #1 game in February, while Nioh debuted in 9th (Halo Wars 2 didn’t crack the overall top 10, but it did finish in 6th on the Xbox One chart). Piscatella said:
Ubisoft’s For Honor was the best-selling game of February 2017 despite having only 12 days in market during the month. And two new releases debut in the month’s Top 10: Ubisoft’s For Honor and the PS4 exclusive Nioh, developed by Team Ninja.
