Farpoint and the PSVR Aim Controller Launch on May 16

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that Impulse Gear’s PlayStation VR exclusive title, Farpoint, is releasing on May 16 in North America and May 17 in Europe. The PSVR Aim Controller will also be available on May 16 in North America, but no date was given for the Aim Controller in Europe.

According to GameStop, Farpoint will be $49.99 USD on its own, while a bundle of Farpoint and the Aim Controller will be $79.99 USD. It remains to be seen how much the Aim Controller will cost on its own.

Here’s the description for Farpoint:

Farpoint is an unnerving VR space adventure set on a hostile alien planet. On a mission to pick up scientists studying an anomaly with the potential of limitless power near Jupiter, a rupture from the anomaly transports the player and scientists to an unknown alien world. Separated from their colleagues, players must use holographic logs scattered throughout the landscape to reunite with the scientists and escape the planet. Players explore and discover the secrets of the planet, blasting their way through hordes of indigenous and alien creatures with the optional/compatible PlayStation VR Aim Controller.

  • The natural feel and precise controls of the PlayStation VR Aim Controller creates a strong physical connection to the virtual world
  • Traverse the vast planet to discover video logs as you track down the scientists and find a way off the planet
  • Master various weapons – from charged plasma rifles to railguns – in the fight through packs of hostile alien life

In an interview last year, Sony’s Shawn Layden said the Aim Controller will work with more than just Farpoint.
