Report: PS4 Pro Sold 238,000 Units in the US Last Month

As revealed by The NPD Group last week, December 2016 saw PlayStation 4 outselling Xbox One in the United States, with Microsoft confirming that December was the biggest month ever for Xbox One in the US. While the NPD doesn’t release sales figures to the public anymore, Windows Central has learned from industry sources that December was actually a tight race between the consoles.

According to their report, PS4 and PS4 Pro sales totaled 1.57 million in December, while Xbox One and Xbox One S sales reached 1.51 million (up 10% year-over-year). For a breakdown, there were 1.33 million regular PS4s and 238,000 PS4 Pros sold in December.

For comparison, roughly 433,000 regular PS4s and 45,000 PS4 Pro systems were sold in Japan last month.

Sony recently confirmed that lifetime PS4 sales have reached 53.4 million worldwide. A report from SuperData suggests that Xbox One sales are at 26 million.

Expect the full NPD December report to arrive this week.
