Google has published their annual Year in Search report, revealing that Pokemon Go was the #1 most searched term worldwide in 2016, followed by iPhone 7, Donald Trump, Prince, and Powerball. Browser game Slither.io was the only video game in the top 10, finishing in 9th.
Over in Consumer Tech, Nintendo Switch was the 9th most searched term worldwide this year. Narrowing the results to just the United States, Switch was 5th, with PlayStation VR 9th and PS4 Pro 10th.

- Battlefield 1
- Warcraft
- Dark Souls 3
- Blade and Soul
- Madden 17
- No Mans Sky
- Call of Duty Infinite Warfare
By clicking on each term in Google’s Year in Search 2016, you can learn more about its performance over the course of the year. Using Overwatch as an example, you can see that interest reached its maximum at launch; Singapore, South Korea, Canada, United States, and Sweden were the top five most interested regions; and Sombra held the top two most related searches.
