With The Dawning set to arrive on December 13, and the sequel coming in 2017, developer Vicarious Visions (Skylanders series, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy) announced today that they’re partnering with Bungie to “further expand” the Destiny universe.
“Vicarious Visions is excited to announce that we are partnering with Bungie to further expand the award-winning Destiny universe,” the developer said in an image on their Facebook page. Additional details on the partnership weren’t shared.
In other Destiny news, Bungie made some changes to Matchmaking settings today, which aim to improve your Crucible experiences by putting a higher emphasis on connection quality:
We’ve made a change to the Matchmaking system in an effort to increase match quality. Our specific goal is to reduce the number of matches that begin before they fill up with players. To achieve this, we are expanding the available skill-range for other players earlier and more aggressively. We will also be looking for lower-latency matches for longer than before. Essentially, this puts a stronger bias on connection quality, with less emphasis on skill matching. This may result in slightly longer matchmaking times in some cases. For some of you, this could mean that you’ll be matched with opponents well outside of your skill range. We hope the tradeoff is worth it to improve the Crucible ecosystem in general.
When The Dawning event goes live on Tuesday alongside Update 2.5, it will include new Quests and Bounties, a new Record Book, new gear and Sparrows, a new game mode called Strike Scoring, and the return of Sparrow Racing League with new tracks. The Dawning ends on January 3.
