DICE Vows to Fix Battlefield 1’s PS4 Pro Issues With Next Title Update

Last we reported on Battlefield 1‘s PS4 Pro woes, DICE’s investigation into the performance issues was ongoing — now, the developer has finally zeroed in on a fix.

Word comes by way of the Battlefield Forums, where Development Director and Producer Nils Hallberg identified the shooter’s dynamic resolution scaler as the culprit. Introduced via update 1.04, Hallberg went on to assure players that a fix is on the way, and will be included in the next Battlefield 1 title update.

“We found an issue that explains a lot of the issues mentioned in this thread, e.g. FPS drops and blurry textures. The issue relates to the dynamic resolution where the minimum was too high. We have a fix for this for all platforms (except PC that does not use dynamic resolution) and it will be included in the next patch.”

Responding to accusations that DICE had “downgraded” visuals on PS4 Pro, the developer stressed that the quality of textures has remained “untouched” since launch.

“I need to clarify a few things. Before the patch (i.e. version 1.02) there was no minimum at all. In 1.04 we added a minimum but due to a bug that got calculated the wrong way and was set way too high. In the next patch we are going to have minimum but it will be properly set. The quality of the textures are, since launch, untouched.”

We’ll share further details regarding that title update the moment DICE rolls out the patch notes. Tell us, have you encountered performance issues while playing Battlefield 1 on PS4 Pro?
