Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Trailer Introduces Captain America & Morrigan

In the latest trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Capcom confirmed that Captain America and Morrigan will be joining the roster, which already includes Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Ryu, and X. You’ll also get a look at the Power and Time Infinity Stones, as wielded by Ryu and Captain Marvel.

Capcom adds that there will be “numerous popular characters” from the Marvel and Capcom universes in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. They continue, “Beyond appealing to genre and series fans, the game is targeting a diverse audience and looks to bring in casual players who are fans of Marvel movies, comic books, and television shows; as such, starting with a robust cinematic Story Mode, the game will feature a variety of exciting and accessible single player content, as well as rich multiplayer modes including online battles.”

In an interview on Marvel’s Facebook page, Executive Producer Mike Jones touched on the 2v2 system, saying they’ve “gone deeper on what the team dynamic means,” and now you’re going to be able to free form, change your characters, and make up combos.

Saying they act almost like a third character, Jones mentioned that an Infinity Stone “will augment your characters and give them abilities they didn’t previously have,” while also giving you “huge comeback mechanics.”

As for the story mode, it will explain how the worlds came together and why the characters “must fight to the finish.”

Capcom said in a press release that their revival of the Marvel vs. Capcom series after five years is part of a plan to revisit old properties:

In addition to regular major title releases each fiscal year, Capcom is currently focused on reviving series that have not had new entries recently, or otherwise dormant IP. Beginning with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, a return for the series following a five-year hiatus, Capcom looks to enhance its corporate value even further by utilizing its library of rich contents.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will be available in late 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

If you missed the announcementUltimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is now available digitally on PS4 for $24.99 USD. It’ll come to Xbox One and PC in March 2017.

So far, the Marvel vs. Capcom series has shipped seven million units.
