Just a few days after the rumor of a PlayStation Experience 2016 announcement surfaced, Polygon is reporting that Marvel vs Capcom 4 is in development, it’s releasing in 2017, it will be available for consoles, and a PSX unveiling is happening.
Hearing the details from multiple sources, Polygon says Marvel vs Capcom 4 should focus on the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it comes to the Marvel roster. They speculate that this means you’ll see characters from Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy like Ant-Man and Groot, but not anyone from the X-Men series, such as Wolverine and Magneto.
The previous game in the series, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, was delisted from the PlayStation Store at the end of 2013 after Capcom’s license with Marvel expired. In the new report, Polygon says they’ve heard “that there may be good news for fans of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 specifically coming soon as well.”
When Capcom was reached for comment about the report, they replied, “Capcom does not comment on rumors or speculation.”
The PlayStation Showcase takes place on Saturday, December 3 at 10am PT/1pm ET, where we’ll get “announcements and a sneak peek at the future of PlayStation.”
