Digital Foundry always does a fantastic job with technical analysis, and they just took a look at how Uncharted 4 performs on the PS4 Pro. In their 11-minute video (which is embedded above), they show off the differences between Naughty Dog’s action game running on a PlayStation 4 and the PS4 Pro.
The Digital Foundry Uncharted 4 analysis revealed that the game has a much better image quality while running on a PS4 Pro. This is in large part due to the resolution being bumped up from 1080p to 1440p. Digital Foundry surmises that due to impressive anti-aliasing efforts by Naughty Dog, the action game looks smoother than games with higher raw pixel counts (once again showing that it’s a bit silly to judge by just resolutions).
Unlike The Last of Us Remastered, which actually runs at a slightly worse frame-rate on PS4 Pro, Uncharted 4 runs nearly identical to its standard PS4 counterpart. The game typically runs at a steady 30 frames-per-second, although there are slight dips during some rather hectic moments that use a lot of effects. Ultimately, the game runs fine on both systems, so it’s good to see that this version isn’t hampered any.
Most impressive is how Uncharted 4‘s multiplayer performs on the Pro. It runs at a full 1080p at 60 frames-per-second in contrast to the 900p seen on the standard PS4. During two hours of multiplayer gameplay, Digital foundry only experienced a handful of frame-rate drops. It’s not perfect, but it’s more than solid enough and seems to perform slightly better while looking a whole lot nicer.
Is anyone going to give Uncharted 4 a second go on PS4 Pro?
