Based on the movie, The Martian VR Experience is coming to PlayStation VR and HTC Vive tomorrow, November 15, priced at $19.99 USD. An Oculus version is “coming soon.”
As the PlayStation Store listing in Australia shows, it’s a 3.3GB download and requires PlayStation VR and PlayStation Move.
Directed by Robert Stromberg, with Ridley Scott executive producing, The Martian VR Experience is described as an “interactive, immersive adventure with viewers participating from astronaut Mark Watney’s perspective, performing tasks that will facilitate his chances for survival.” Along with flying onto the surface of Mars, steering at zero gravity through space, and driving a rover, you’ll also be able to experiences “key scenes” from The Martian movie.
As the description adds, The Martian VR Experience debuted at CES 2016, was accepted into the New Frontier Program at Sundance, received the Cannes Silver Lion in Digital Craft, and won the Next VR Award from the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP).
