Launch sales of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare were down almost 50 percent on Black Ops 3 in the UK, according to figures published by GfK Chart-Track.
Despite such a dip in performance, Infinite Warfare still stands as 2016’s second-largest launch in the country, behind only FIFA 17, though the year-on-year loss has been attributed to two things: firstly, unlike its predecessors, Infinity Ward’s far-future shooter skipped PS3 and Xbox 360 altogether, while Activision considers the Infinite Warfare sub-brand to be relatively new in comparison to, say, the über-popular Black Ops.
Even when accounting for the loss of last-gen sales, though, GfK notes that sales were still down by 43.6 per cent. Overall, revenue was down by a “slightly more palatable 25 percent,” according to GamesIndustry.biz.
