Yesterday, Titanfall‘s official Twitter account fired shots at its competitor, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, with reference to IGN’s review-in-progress that called the Infinity Ward title “slow” and “plodding.” Such jabs are quite common in the industry but many thought it was in poor taste considering Titanfall 2 isn’t particularly off to a good start sales-wise and the fact that Respawn Entertainment was formed by ex-Infinity Ward developers.
It looks like fans weren’t the only ones who thought the tweet was rather silly. Respawn itself took to Twitter to distance itself from the tweet, reminding people that Titanfall‘s account is run by Electronic Arts whereas the official voice of Respawn is its own Twitter account.
One is “mostly slow & plodding” while the other’s “frantic precision is electrifying”– you decide: https://t.co/QkynZOXgpn #MakeTheRightCall pic.twitter.com/aAHWbrZQ2y

For the record: @respawn is the official voice of Respawn studio. We have nothing but respect & love for our fellow devs.

Both Infinite Warfare and Titanfall 2 have been praised for their campaigns. Interestingly, this year has seen some strong single-player modes in shooters including the likes of Battlefield 1 and DOOM.
