In an interview with Eurogamer, Rocksteady Games Band Marketing Producer Dax Ginn revealed that Batman: Arkham VR for PlayStation VR has gone gold and was submitted to Sony last week.
Rocksteady developing Batman: Arkham VR came as a bit of a surprise, as the developer said they were done with the franchise following Arkham Knight. As for what’s next for Rocksteady, Ginn doesn’t know, but Warner Bros is letting them think about what their dream game would be:
To be honest I don’t really know. We’re in a very enviable position where we have some time and space to decide what we’re doing next. We can sit back and think what our dream game would be, and we have Warner Bros’ support to do that.
I think we’ve proven that we’re a hardworking team, we work well together, and we can really decide what’s best creatively for our own destiny.
Ginn later talked about how the mood around Rocksteady is split, as they know it’s “definitely time to do something else,” but they still feel comfortable being in the Arkhamverse. “We’re definitely letting go of that comfort blanket and putting ourselves in the position where whatever we do next is going to feel very different,” he added.
While Ginn wouldn’t say what Rocksteady is doing next, he was able to reveal that “we are working on what our future holds as a studio. The resource we’re applying right now is for games which have yet to come out.”
October is set to be a big month for Batman, as Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham VR launches on October 13, Virtuous’ Batman: Return to Arkham releases on October 18, and the third episode of Batman: The Telltale Series could be released.
