Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 headlines this week’s batch of new PlayStation releases and going off our review, Konami’s soccer sim has certainly been worth the wait.
It’s just in time, too, considering that EA Sports has prepped the playable demo for FIFA 17 for release this week. How and ever, if the beautiful game doesn’t suit your fancy, Sony is also hosting a co-op sale on PlayStation Store, where we pluck Nidhogg ($6.74) as our pick of the week. Because when it comes to couch co-op, the hectic gameplay of Messhof Games’ side-scroller is practically unrivalled.

Price is good and I guess the features are solid, though I really don't have a great opinion, since I have very little interest in 4K this or HDR that.

Price is nice, but it's really disappointing that with all those 4K bells and whistles the Pro can't play 4K Blu-Ray discs.

This will be a cool upgrade for those who already have the proper equipment. The graphics may improve for 1080p users, but the different will likely be negligible there. I know I'm probably going to buy a 4K HDR TV this holiday season, and so I may pick up the PS4 Pro next year. As long as this truly doesn't fragment the player base, the pricing is right without really hurting early adopters. It's a safe upgrade by Sony. -

I'm all for new tech. Better, prettier, all that -- sounds good to me. Problem now is that I need a 4K TV to even have it make a difference, and that's just more money. It seems a bit weird that it doesn't come with a 4K bluray player, and there are a couple of shortcuts that it feels like they took in making thise for the "pro" player. I'll probably get one eventually, but it doesn't quite have enough juice to pull me away from my two perfectly functioning "PS4 Plebians."
Price is right on though for anyone looking to upgrade, or even looking to get a PS4 for the first time, so good on them for that. -

I do plan on getting a 4K TV but I'm not sold on the Neo yet. My launch console is just fine. If it ever dies, I'll reconsider.

$399 is a relatively fair price I feel. It's not a massive technical leap forward, plus it's coming out in two months so Sony is really angling this as a luxury item. If the install base is to spike, it'll be because of the entry level PS4 Slim (basically the new standard) at $299.

My initial reaction to PlayStation Pro was disappointment. The hardware isn't impressive and I don't see any reason to upgrade myself. It is simply a novelty for PlayStation fans with 4K TVs.
After further consideration though, I honestly feel relieved. Sony didn't tremendously fracture their audience, they didn't shortchange the many PS4 owners that already exist, demoing games in the future won't lead to massive conspiracy theories about how the game runs on standard PS4. The console market isn't much different now than it was this morning.
In a weird kind of way, this is exactly what console gamers wanted. No massive leap or change. Put your pitchforks away until the Scorpio drops next year.

I admit, it wasn't the most exciting press conference, but the important thing here is the price. I gather, most people assumed PS4 Pro would cost at least $500 or more, right? At $399, it's a good deal.
That said, do people really need it? Well, if you have a 4K TV, maybe? But for those who might be sticking to their original PS4s, Sony didn't really do a convincing job of making players want to upgrade.
That said, I'll be getting it day one. Yeah, I love my toys, and hey, it's for work!

The price is the best we could have hoped for. As for the features, the promise of 4K(ish) games and HDR content doesn't have me too excited. I would have liked to hear more about "stable frame rates" and making things smoother.
