Shenmue developer Ys Net has released their very first developer report for Shenmue III on their Kickstarter page. It’s a bit of a state of the union address in video format. The development team shows how far they’ve come with the game. The video specifically focuses in on one developer who is creating a quick time event and another developing an event scene.
Shenmue III was one of the more successful Kickstarter fundraising stories. Ys Net appeared on stage at the Sony Press Conference at E3 2015, begging for fans to “Save Shenmue” with a crowdfunding campaign. The campaign went on to be one of the highest funded on Kickstarter and the most successful campaign for video games. Ys Net raised a grand total of over $6.3 million on Kickstarter, and then they opened up additional funding through PayPal. Shenmue III will pick up where Shenmue II left off, but considering the amount of time that has passed since Shenmue II, surely Ys Net will set the game up so potential new fans can hop right in.
The release date for Shenmue III is currently set for some time in 2017 for PC and PlayStation 4.
