Festival of the Lost & Sparrow Racing League Returning to Destiny This Year

After the Rise of Iron expansion releases on September 20 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Destiny will see the return of a couple of themed events from last year: Festival of the Lost and Sparrow Racing League.

Speaking with Game Informer, Bungie revealed that Festival of the Lost will be back in October, complete with new masks and other surprises.

As for Sparrow Racing League, it will be back in December with tweaks to existing tracks and new tracks inspired by Rise of Iron’s environments. Live Team Director Jerry Hook adds that Sparrow Racing League might be one part of a bigger winter event later this year:

When we talk about SRL coming back, it’ll probably be wrapped in a different style, not just focused around SRL. Because some of the stuff that we learned from our players around the Sparrow Racing League is that some people didn’t like racing. So, can you do something with the event that helps support those players a little bit differently? Absolutely.

A few other members of Bungie implied that they want to be more open about what they’re working on in Destiny, and that they want to move toward clearer communication about upcoming content releases.

You can see a bit of Rise of Iron gameplay in the above video.

As a reminder, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Destiny received their last planned update on July 26.

Expect more details on Destiny: Rise of Iron later this month at gamescom 2016.

Provided nothing’s changed since February, a “full game sequel” to Destiny is releasing in 2017.
