System Shock Kickstarter Campaign Ends With $1.35 Million Raised

With an original goal of $900,000, developer Nightdive Studios’ Kickstarter campaign for System Shock‘s remake came to an end after it managed to raise  $1,350,700 via 21,625 backers. CEO Stephen Kick thanked fans for their support, stating that it’s evident System Shock “means so much to so many people.”

As for what’s next, the studio is ready to enter pre-production next week. There will also be an opportunity to back the project via PayPal, which the developer will set up on its website at a later time. The tiers may differ from the Kickstarter campaign but the monies will go towards the previously revealed stretch goals.

Some of the aforementioned stretch goals will have a deadline, however, as they’ll impact the game’s development.

System Shock‘s remake is scheduled for a December 2017 release on the Xbox One and PC, followed by a PlayStation 4 release in Q1 2018, thanks to Nightdive’s successful negotiations with Sony.
