The King of Fighters developer, SNK, has expressed its desire to revisit some of its old IPs including Samurai Shodown and Metal Slug alongside creating a new IP.
In an interview with Polygon during Evo, producer Yasuyuki Oda, artist Eiichi Ogura, game designer Yuji Watanabe and lead game designer Hidetoshi Ishizawa all shared the same sentiment, with Ogura stating that other than The King of Fighters, SNK’s IPs have been “quiet.” He also said that he’d like to “brush up” Ikari Warriors and World Heroes.
“I also want to create a new Samurai Shodown. And I’d like Ishizawa [to make it]. And a new Garou lead by Oda-san. I’ll leave my fate up to them. I want to set up brand-new IP [as well],” said Watanabe.
SNK’s upcoming title, The King of Fighters XIV is coming to the PlayStation 4 on August 23.
