Developer nDreams announced today that The Assembly will be released in late 2016, following the launch of PlayStation VR on October 13.
A first-person interactive story centered around Assembly, an organization that conducts scientific experiments, The Assembly asks this question: When does the end justify the means? Playing as both newcomer Madeleine Stone, who faces a bizarre induction program, and veteran Cal Pearson, “you’ll make a series of shocking revelations that lead you to question the Assembly’s relentless pursuit of progress.”
nDreams adds:
Over the course of the game, you’ll make tough decisions and overcome trials. You’ll face thought-provoking dilemmas with uncertain outcomes that challenge your views of the Assembly and its members, all coming to a head in one of multiple surprising conclusions. Will your actions and their future repercussions save lives… or lead to catastrophe?
To ensure player comfort, nDreams created a control scheme custom built for VR. “Both novice and more experienced VR gamers will be able to explore The Assembly’s world as comfortably as a flatscreen first-person game,” they add. “Players of The Assembly will also be able to switch to a non-VR mode, which features a reworked UI designed to be played on a monitor.”
The Assembly will be available for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on July 19, priced at $29.99/€24.99/£19.99. A non-VR version of the game will also be available for PC that day, priced at $19.99/€19.99/£14.99.
PlayStation VR pricing wasn’t revealed today.
