Allison Road Cancellation Still a Mystery, Publisher Gives Vague Response When Questioned

It doesn’t look like the mystery surrounding the cancellation of P.T.’s spiritual successor, Allison Road, will be getting solved any time soon, as a new statement from publisher Team17 is just as vague and hollow as developer Lilith’s.

Written in response to VG247‘s request for comment on the situtation, Team17 delivered the following:

After a long consideration between Lilith owner Chris Kesler and ourselves, we have reached a mutual agreement to end our collaboration on publishing Allison Road under Team17’s Games label. We love the concept and value Chris talent highly, but sometime things pan out differently than expected as game development and publishing have so many layers of complexity. The whole team here wish all the best to Chris on his current and future projects for which, before being a business partner, we are also a fan.

We’re not given much detail on the exact “complexity” that caused Allison Road‘s cancellation, and it’s likely we’ll never learn the real truth behind the abandonment.

All we can do now is sit back, watch the terrifying reveal trailer, and think of what could have been.

Is this one heartbreak too many for you? Would you like to see anyone else attempt a P.T.-like experience?
