Longtime host Geoff Keighley has confirmed that The Game Awards 2016 will take place on December 1.
Keighley, who is in Los Angeles to take point on YouTube Live at E3 2016, took to Twitter to confirm the date, with promotional material teasing that the annual event will be broadcast across “every gaming screen” and, most interesting of all, in virtual reality.

Given that all eyes in the industry are currently trained on the imminent E3, details regarding The Game Awards 2016 remain thin on the ground for the time being — a situation that is unlikely to change until the summer.
One thing we can expect, however, is a cavalcade of world premieres, announcements and, perhaps, the appearance of Hideo Kojima who was allegedly banned from attending last year’s awards extravaganza.
