Ubisoft announced today that Watch Dogs 2 is releasing worldwide on November 15 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Developed for over two years by the original Watch Dogs creative team, Watch Dogs 2 heads to the San Francisco Bay Area, which is the latest city to adopt ctOS 2.0, an advanced operating system networking the city infrastructure. Ubisoft also promises a “massive and dynamic open world environment.”
Watch Dogs 2 stars Marcus Holloway, a young hacker accused of a crime he didn’t commit who tries to shut down ctOS 2.0. As you’d expect, you’ll be able to hack into the city’s infrastructure as well as every person and connected device, including drones, cars, cranes, security robots, and more.
“In this vast open world, players can hack their way through traffic while engaging in dangerous car chases through the winding streets of San Francisco, traverse the rooftops of the vibrant neighborhoods of Oakland and infiltrate the offices of cutting-edge companies in Silicon Valley,” Ubisoft adds.
Ubisoft Montreal Senior Producer Dominic Guay talked about Watch Dogs 2:
Our creative team is working hard to deliver an outstanding Watch_Dogs experience. In Watch_Dogs 2, we’re excited to give players a captivating storyline with engaging characters that offers deeper, more meaningful hacking options, a greater variety of gadgets and weapons and a brand new seamless multiplayer experience that will appeal to fans of the original Watch_Dogs as well as players new to the brand.
That multiplayer experience will include both co-op and Player vs Player activities, all available in a shared open world.
Community Developer Chase Straight added that they’ve addressed feedback from the first game:
We’re very proud of what we accomplished with the first game, but we also realized we needed to push the experience forward. We scoured the forums, read every tweet and every comment. With the sequel you’ll find a dynamic new protagonist, a denser new setting, deeper hacking possibilities, rewarding world activities, and more accessible vehicle handling (just to name a few things). The team took special care to make sure the biggest points of feedback were addressed in Watch Dogs 2, and we hope you enjoy what we’ve cooked up for you.
By pre-ordering Watch Dogs 2 you’ll receive an extra mission called Zodiac Killer: “An unwanted ghost of San Francisco’s past has resurfaced after fifty years. While completing the mission, the player unlocks an additional exclusive outfit.”
