Techland Working on Two AAA Games They Hope “Will Be Even More Successful Than Dying Light”

At the Digital Dragons conference in Krakow, Poland, Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka told GamePressure that they’re currently working on two big games for release over the next two years, and they hope both will be more successful than Dying Light:

I would like to share some good news with all the fans of Techland’s games: we’re currently working on not one, but two new titles. We estimate their total budget to be around USD 77 million, so these will be so-called AAA games. In order to give the teams working on these projects creative independence, each project is being developed in a different place.

[…] Our main target is to give the gamers two huge titles within the next two years that will be even more successful than Dying Light. I assure you that they are worth the wait!

The first game, an open-world fantasy title with RPG elements, is created by Techland Warszawa, with the second game being made by the Wroclaw studio. Techland’s Vancouver-based studio will provide tech support for both.

Other details about the fantasy game are that it’s a brand new IP, it will include both single-player and co-op multiplayer, and it isn’t a reboot of Hellraid, which was put on hold last year.

As for Dying Light, Techland isn’t planning on adding any further big DLC, but they will “definitely continue small-scale support of the game – updated, patches and social events.” Marchewka didn’t say if one of their in-development games was a sequel to Dying Light, but they did put Hellraid on hold so they could focus on expanding the franchise.

Also, if you’re hoping for a new Call of Juarez game, Marchewka said they’d like to work on one, “but we have no way of doing that, we have no people who could take care of it.”

Do you think Techland is working on a Dying Light sequel right now?
