Shenmue I and II Remaster Being Investigated by SEGA

While SEGA fans are still waiting for Shenmue 3 to finally grace the PS4, SEGA might be doing something that just might make fans of the series jump for joy.

In the latest SEGA Central video, it reveals that SEGA is currently investigating the possibility of a Shenmue 1 and 2 remastered version! This was revealed by SEGA Community Manager Dan Sheridan  who said the following:

With regards to Shenmue I and II HD, of course we would love to release these tomorrow. Sadly, it’s not as simple as porting the games to current platforms as we will need to ensure that any HD remaster lives up to the quality of the original titles. And with games as immersive as Shenmue I and II, there are further complications from licensed products that were included in the original games. That said, we’d love to do it and are currently investigating how to make it a reality.

Bear in mind that this doesn’t mean it will happen, but fans can take comfort that at least SEGA does know there’s a lot of gamers interested in playing these Dreamcast classics.

Would you buy Shenmue 1 and 2 remastered? What would you want to see from it different from the originals?
