Platinum Games’ President Steps Down (Update)

Update:

Platinum Games has confirmed Minami’s departure to Polygon with the following statement:

As you may or may not know, this year is our 10th anniversary. We feel this is the perfect opportunity to reform our internal structure in order to strengthen our position as a developer, and changes in personnel affairs are a natural part of that.

His replacement, Kenichi Sato, also released a statement:

I have recently assumed the position of President & CEO of our company, following the departure of Tatsuya Minami at the end of March 2016. With this, our board of executives now consists of myself, Seigo Tabira and Atsushi Inaba.

Please note that this change in staff structure in no way affects our dedication to our craft. I have utmost confidence that we will continue to create games to the same high standards that our partners and fans have come to expect from us.

Original story:

GameBusiness.jp reports that Platinum Games‘ President, Tatsuya Minami, stepped down from his position towards the end of last month. The article, which has been translated into English by several publications, reports that Minami was replaced by executive director Kenichi Sato. Additionally, Seigo Tabira and Atsushi Inaba have both become company directors.

We’re not able to confirm whether Minami merely stepped down and assumed another role within Platinum or resigned and left the studio entirely. The company’s official website still lists him as President.

We’ll update our readers when we have more information or if an official announcement is made.

This year marks Platinum Games’ 10th anniversary. The studio is set to release Activision-published Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan on May 24 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
