Hironobu Sakaguchi, otherwise known as the founding father of the Final Fantasy franchise, has showcased early concept art for what is potentially a new console game from Mistwalker.
News of Sakaguchi-san’s next creative effort comes by way of Twitter user VoltySquirrel, noting that the stylized artwork glimpsed above is a product of Character Designer Kimihiko Fujisaka (Drakengard, The Last Story).
Showcased during a Hawaiian creative media master class hosted by the UH West Oʻahu Library, a now-pulled video featured Sakaguchi offering a handful of details regarding the project, with plans to fully reveal said title in about a year’s time.

Details for the as-yet-unannounced Mistwalker title are, as you would imagine, thin on the ground. Even still, reports that the developer is creating a new game potentially for current-gen consoles ought to pique the interest of fans of the studio’s past work, be it The Last Story, Blue Dragon and/or Lost Odyssey.
