Pushing it back from the early 2016 launch window, Capcom announced today that Umbrella Corps will release digitally for PlayStation 4 and PC in May 2016 in North America and Europe, priced at $29.99/€29.99/£24.99.
A third-person shooter set in the Resident Evil universe, Umbrella Corps features multiplayer support for 1-6 players, with most of the modes focused on competitive team battles. However, there will be a single-player mode titled The Experiment, where you must complete more than 20 missions with different objectives:
This coliseum style horde-like mode strips players of the Zombie Jammer device that provides perilous protection in multiplayer modes, putting them in a head-on confrontation with progressively harder waves of creatures, across multiple missions.
In terms of locations, there’s the Umbrella Laboratory map, as well as areas inspired by Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. For RE4, you’ll find a retooled map based on the Village that takes the fight to the rooftops, while RE5 brings a newly imagined Tricell headquarters. There will also be stage-specific enemies, including Ganados (RE4) and Cerberus dogs (RE5).
Capcom says details on additional maps and modes will arrive in the future.
