Here’s the Sony CES 2016 Trailer, Kaz Hirai Talks About PS4 Setting A “Benchmark for Our Organization”

While Sony’s CES 2016 press conference yesterday didn’t give us any new details about PlayStation VR, they did show off a new trailer featuring brief glimpses of PSVR, the PlayStation 4, games like The Last Guardian and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and more.

During his speech, Sony President and CEO Kaz Hirai talked about their multi-layered strategy for the future:

The first driver of our future is all about choice. We’ve made a choice to make innovative products and services. We make it easier to do things that you want to do.

It’s also our choice not to solely pursue market share or scale in the mass market. This is a choice at Sony to stand out from the crowd, not simply to fit in. We’ve spent decades building a recognized brand that’s beloved, and that stands for something in your hearts and your minds.

He also touched on the PS4, saying, “The PlayStation 4 is the embodiment of those things that we value as an organization: powerful technology, advancement ahead of the curve… PlayStation 4 has built a very passionate community.”

Thrilled by how effectively the PS4 has encouraged sharing, Hirai also said, “We are in constant dialog with that [PS4] community, listening to their ideas, and responding to them with new, better, and more exciting gaming experiences.”

“PlayStation 4 sets a benchmark for our organization in terms of collaboration, of engineering, creativity, artistry, and also experiential design,” he concluded.

As we learned yesterday, Sony sold 5.7 million PS4s over the holidays, bringing the worldwide lifetime total to 35.9 million.

There was also a light-hearted moment where Hirai highlighted memes and the parody account:
