Report: Leaked Dark Cloud Trailer Says PS4 Isn’t Compatible With PS2 Discs or PS2 Classics

Last night, Sony reportedly published a Dark Cloud PlayStation 4 trailer on YouTube. They quickly removed it, but not before people were able to capture images of the video, revealing that the PlayStation 2 emulation on PS4 won’t support PS2 discs or PS2 Classics.

Thanks to Google Cache, we have a clear image of the description, which you can read below:

Gameplay footage from Dark Cloud PS2 game on the PS4 system. Experience Dark Cloud with 1080p up-rendering and Trophies. Additional enhanced features include Shareplay (Active PS Plus membership may be required), Remote Play, Activity Feeds and Second Screen support for game manuals through the PS Vita system or PlayStation App.

[…] PS2 Classics and PS2-formatted discs are incompatible with the PS4 system.

Sony announced last month that PS2 emulation for PS4 was being worked on, with three Star Wars PS2 games already available on PS4 through the Star Wars Battlefront console bundle.

With the big keynote presentation happening at 10am PT/1pm ET on Saturday during PlayStation Experience, don’t be surprised if you hear more about PS2 emulation on PS4 tomorrow.
